The National Women’s Soccer League will not play this weekend’s games in the wake of a sexual misconduct scandal involving a high-profile coach and growing criticism of the league’s handling of it and other cases of alleged abuse.

The league has been under increasing pressure in recent months as reports surfaced of abusive or inappropriate behavior by coaches or executives at several teams, including the Utah Royals FC and the Washington Spirit.
