Hometown Grants are part of the Un-carrier\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cts.businesswire.com\/ct\/CT?id=smartlink&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.t-mobile.com%2Fnews%2Fun-carrier%2Ft-mobiles-next-un-carrier-move-5gforall&amp;esheet=52496497&amp;newsitemid=20210923005645&amp;lan=en-US&amp;anchor=massive+commitment&amp;index=1&amp;md5=6eec86c637cfa095d54369101fa407fa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" shape=\"rect\">massive commitment<\/a>\u00a0to bring 5G to rural America.<\/p>\n<p>Over the next five years, T-Mobile plans to hire 7,500 new employees in small towns and rural communities and provide $25 million in grants for community development projects. And today, 25 additional well-deserving small towns will snag a grant to improve their communities. Meet the winners and their projects:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bwlistdisc\">\n<li><b>Atmore, Ala.:\u00a0<\/b>Provide an internet technology lab as well as computer furnishings which will be located in the former Atmore hardware store<\/li>\n<li><b>Wedowee, Ala<\/b>.: Renovate a town-owned home to be operated as a safe home for abused women and their children<\/li>\n<li><b>Clarksville, Ark.<\/b>: Beautify and create the Levee Amphitheatre, a public space for the community<\/li>\n<li><b>Mammoth Lakes, Calif.<\/b>: Install and operate a free, pet-friendly dog park that encourages community inclusion, fosters connections and enhances public safety<\/li>\n<li><b>Dixon, Ill.<\/b>: Revitalize the Dixon Historic Theatre, which plans to become a full-time performing arts center<\/li>\n<li><b>Batesville, Ind.<\/b>: Develop and design<b>\u00a0<\/b>Inspiration Park in commemoration of 2020\u2019s 100th anniversary of the Women\u2019s Suffrage Movement, honoring the rich legacy of women who have shown vision and tenacity to become significant contributors to the Batesville Community<\/li>\n<li><b>Fruitland, Idaho<\/b>: Purchase and install youth playground equipment in a new city park<\/li>\n<li><b>Fort Scott, Kan.<\/b>: Create a downtown greenspace with an addition of an entrance pavilion and walkway at Market Street Pavilion on Skubitz Plaza<\/li>\n<li><b>Lake Orion, Mich.<\/b>: Enhance Green\u2019s Park, by<i>\u00a0<\/i>installing a new<i>\u00a0<\/i>pavilion and playground<\/li>\n<li><b>Oxford, Miss.<\/b>: Transform an underutilized space in Oxford\u2019s Courthouse Square into a new urban park that offers residents and visitors with a place to gather<\/li>\n<li><b>Laurinburg, N.C.<\/b>: Install a dog park<\/li>\n<li><b>Robersonville, N.C.<\/b>: Create a vibrant public space with covered stage and gardens that can be enjoyed by citizens and community organizations<\/li>\n<li><b>Boiling Springs, N.C.<\/b>: Add wayfinding signage to community parks and other town amenities<\/li>\n<li><b>Raton, N.M.<\/b>: Purchase and install Monument signage and wayfinding signage to make town more inviting to visitors, increase walkability, as well as driving directions and to increase connectivity between the various parts of the town<\/li>\n<li><b>Bowling Green, Ohio<\/b>: Install \u201cparklets,\u201d public gathering spaces created by converting parking into vibrant community spaces that can be used by the public and adjacent businesses for seating, dining, retail, art displays and more<\/li>\n<li><b>Aumsville, Ore.<\/b>: Create space for small businesses to use for Saturday Market Days and to support park use with a community gathering space<\/li>\n<li><b>Talent, Ore.<\/b>: Revitalize space in Depot Building to help it be a focal point of gathering, collaboration and innovation for decades to come<\/li>\n<li><b>Toledo, Ore.<\/b>: Transform rural Toledo\u2019s Main Street through business beautifications and murals, leading to a vibrant economically resilient downtown corridor<\/li>\n<li><b>Phoenixville, Pa.<\/b>: Improve the Historic Downtown District which will create a safer and more walkable open-space for restaurants, shopping and community events<\/li>\n<li><b>Pittston, Pa.<\/b>: Art trail, plants, benches, QR plaques<\/li>\n<li><b>South Fayette Township, Pa.<\/b>: Complete Fairview baseball complex \u2014 as a part of a community and park hub featuring pavilions, walking paths, a dog park, and a splash pad<\/li>\n<li><b>Erwin, Tenn.<\/b>: Complete construction of Phase 1 of The O\u2019Brien Watershed Bike and Hike Park trails, parking lot and trailhead<\/li>\n<li><b>Elgin, Texas<\/b>: Convert undeveloped, city owned lot into accessible outdoor classroom with Public WiFi and shade<\/li>\n<li><b>Helper City, Utah<\/b>: Beautify historic Main Street with dark sky compliant lighting, planters, benches and landscaping<\/li>\n<li><b>Moses Lake, Wash.<\/b>: Set up a creative community incubator that will have art, live music, events, a lounge, maker space; everything a person needs to feel inspired and channel their inner creativity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThese incredible projects spark innovation, ingenuity and hard work that have always been the hallmark of our nation\u2019s small towns,\u201d said Jon Freier, Executive Vice President of Consumer Group at T-Mobile. \u201cFrom beautifying historic Main Streets to building all-new retail spaces, pop-ups and parks \u2026 this is part of our commitment to rural America, and we can\u2019t wait to see all these creative plans come to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>T-Mobile partnered with Main Street America and Smart Growth America, two consulting partners with a combined experience of more than 60 years working to help build stronger, more prosperous small towns and rural communities.
